In the beginning we were quickly lumped into health care because, apparently, dying is a health issue. However, whenever I was pitching at digital health events the only people who wanted to talk to me were insurers, and not just health insurance - but life, long-term-care and funeral insurance. This led to my participation in the Global Insurance Accelerator where I realized the mega opportunity for Caregiven was as an insurtech or fintech solution. We did think about employee benefits, but that is a crowded landscape and I knew we wouldn’t be true to our mission that way. And so, we double-downed in insurance.
